Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Tech. Supervisor, supports the Anesthesia Staff by preparing, maintaining, and replenishing O.R. rooms and all remote areas. Assists with placement of invasive lines, intubation, and regional anesthesia. Maintains quality standards and principles according to company policy and procedures.


Essential Functions:

Room Turnover: Cleans and prepares operating room for next case.

Tasks:

  • Cleans and replaces anesthesia circuit and suction canister. Maintain security, inventory, and delivery of medications in the department and peri-operative areas
  • Ensures all rooms have functioning equipment and assembles any equipment or lines requested by the anesthesia providers.


Cardiac assistance: Assists anesthesiologist in cardiac rooms as needed.

Tasks:

  • Prepares cardiac trays and assists with placement of invasive lines.
  • Assists with difficult and non-difficult intubations.
  • Maintains transesophageal monitors and probes.
  • Places appropriate monitoring equipment on patients.


I-Stats/TEG: Performs the appropriate blood tests ordered upon request.

Tasks:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge to properly perform the requested blood sampling tests.
  • Observes and follows standard precautions in the performance of duties.


Routine Assignments: Completes routine assignments.

Tasks:

  • Pick up blood products from blood bank upon request.
  • Maintains assigned areas.
  • Displays and awareness and understanding of all duties in accordance with the hospital´s mission and vision statement.
  • Drop off fiber optic blades to central sterile.


Call Response: Responds to all pages or calls in a timely manner.

Tasks:

  • Logs on to the Vocera network upon arrival.
  • Responds to Vocera pages when prompted.
  • Answers all pages within three minutes.


Precept Orientees: All anesthesia technicians are required to precept new hire orientees.


Level of Supervision Required: Work is reviewed periodically

 

Contacts:  Regular contacts, within or outside the Company, to give or get information. Require courtesy, tact, and some knowledge of Company procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education/Knowledge: Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills; High School diploma; GED equivalent or High School certificate.

Experience: Less than one year

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy – Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to move objects.

Work Hours

  • 32 – 40 hour position
  • Shift time - 10:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
