Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant is dedicated to offering exceptional patient care; facilitates the efficient flow of the patient office visit experience while maintaining high quality and compassionate care.  


Major Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Patient triage to include vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height and weight).
  • Maintain temperature logs, QA processes, OSHA policies. 
  • Ensure accurate performance of EKG’s. 
  • Completing pharmaceutical prior authorizations.
  • Phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills.
  • Performing Medicare Annual Wellness Visits.
  • Exam room set up/ cleaning/stocking
  • Electronic input of patient lab/radiology orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to operate, clean and sterilize.
  • Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology to communicate with medical and laboratory staff.
  • Skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Skill in proper reporting of laboratory tests.
  • Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
  • Skill in appropriately billing orders collected.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to work in multiple computer systems effectively.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
  • Ability to work independently.


Education / Training / Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited 4 year college; no experience required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or RMA) preferred.
  • Current CPR or BLS certificate.


Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. *
  • Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs.*
  • Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
  • Ability to speak clearly and understandably. 
  • Ability to smell.

Hours and Pay:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 07:30 a.m. - 04:00 p.m.
  • $15 - $18/hr based on experience
