Medical Assistant (Endocrine)
The Diabetes and Endocrine Wellness ( DEW) Center is a private practice that
specializes in the management of all types of diabetes and full spectrum endocrine disorders. Our mission is to provide excellent individualized care, treat the whole patient and promote general wellness using state-of-the-art technology while adhering to the highest standards of care. The DEW Center seeks to employ a medical assistant who is self-motivated, detail-oriented and requires minimum supervision. A dynamic professional who is adept at multitasking and takes initiative will support the physician in directing the daily workflow in a seamless manner.
Roles and Responsibilities Includes:
- Get patients ready for physician examination, take and record vitals, general information and health history
- Triage phone calls, setup appointments, check-in patients and verify that all consent forms are completed
- Check-out patients, arrange laboratory services, process referrals and medical record requests
- Process payments and billing
- Assist physician with managing in-basket messages
- Setup prescriptions and medication refills
- Setup wellness rooms with appropriate supplies for patient visit
- Check blood sugars and point of care hemoglobin A1C, administer tests, injections and medications and collect routine specimen, download insulin pump and CGM (continuous glucose monitors - Dexcom, Freestyle libre systems etc)
- Assist physician with examinations and treatments as needed
- Ensure adequate levels of medical supplies for daily use
- Complete insurance prior authorizations for medications and procedures
- Scrub Physicians - to ensure accurate patient scheduling
Qualifications:
- Completion of accredited medical assistance certification program (preferred)
- Knowledgeable in patient care and examination procedures
- Places a high priority on and able to maintain confidentiality
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with clarity, courtesy and high level of professionalism both in-person and on the phone
- Skilled and experienced in medical office processes, organizational needs and policies
- Punctual
