Medical Assistant: Gastroenterology

Position Summary:
- Perform MA & Admin assistant-related duties in a GI practice. Work closely with MD and NP in the day-to-day patient care process. Including documenting patient intake, and vitals, preparing exam rooms, point of care testing, answering calls, etc.

Essential Functions:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Take patient medical histories and record vital signs.
- Point of care testing – Breath analyzer
- Assist with in-office procedures such as anorectal manometry.
- Patient registration & appointment scheduling.
- Maintain clean and organized exam rooms.
- Assist with surgery scheduling, as needed.
- Triage incoming calls and document in medical record.
- Prior Authorizations for medications, testing, and procedures, as needed.
- Stocking & restocking of clinical supplies.
- Document and scan in patient’s medical records.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
Level of Supervision Required: Works under the direction of the physician and practice manager.
Contacts: Contacts, within or outside the Company, as a Company representative in a specialized area of knowledge or technical field. Requires considerable tact and discretion, and some persuasion to obtain approvals, consent, and action.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Education/Knowledge: Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a bachelor’s degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field.
Education Discipline: HSD and bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years (preferred, not required)
