• Humphrey Visual Field for patients with glaucoma or neuro-ophthalmic disorders
• Optical Coherence Tomography:
• Evaluates the retina for swelling or other abnormalities and 
• Evaluates the optic nerve for glaucoma and neuro disorders
• IOL Master 
• Intraocular lens measurement prior to cataract surgery
• Pentacam 
• Evaluates the cornea surface for irregularities
• Scribing on Modern Med EHR
• Shadowing ophthalmic providers and ophthalmic technicians

Position Summary: Document in real time assessment of the patient as provided by the physician/patient interaction. Also, provide medical assistance to the patient and physician as needed.

Krieger Eye Institute is a multi-specialty ophthalmic practice. With 10 physicians providing care for patients with cataracts, corneal disorders, glaucoma, neurologic disorders of the eye, retinal disorders, uveitis, as well as oculoplastics. We offer you the opportunity to see what life is like for an ophthalmologist. 

Essential Functions:

Provide scribe services: (The position will be mainly scribing)

• Chart in real-time as the provider assesses and examines the patient
• Document the history, physical exam, assessment and plan, results, procedures, treatment, and physician consultations
• Record provider-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and information

Perform MA duties: (As needed)

• Greet patients and prepare them for physical examination
• Screens patients for appropriate information
• Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests
• Observe, record and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments

Level of Supervision Required: Works under the direction of the physician and practice manager

Contacts: Contacts, within or outside the Company, as a Company representative in a specialized area of knowledge or technical field. Requires considerable tact and discretion, and some persuasion to obtain approvals, consent and action.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education/Knowledge: Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field.

Education Discipline: HSD and Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience: 3-5 years (preferred, not required)

• Our main facility is on the 6th floor of the Morton Mower Building located at 2411 W. Belvedere Ave. on the campus of Sinai hospital. 
• The Quarry Lake location is at 2700 Quarry Lake Dr. in Baltimore. 

Work Hours

• Full-time position Monday – Friday
• 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (or when clinic ends)
